Child safety
Most of the people using Padhaai are children. Everything below exists because of that, and none of it is optional for us.
No advertising to children
We do not run behavioural advertising to children and we do not use third-party trackers. This is enforced in the system as a setting that cannot be switched on, not as a policy we ask ourselves to remember.
Adults do not get private access to children
When mentor sessions open, they will be group sessions with a minimum number of students, always recorded, and only with a guardian's consent. There are no private messages between an adult and a child on Padhaai, and no adult can start contact with a child.
Everyone who teaches is checked first
Before anyone can teach, we verify their identity, review their credentials, meet them on a video call, and require a background check and a signed safeguarding undertaking. Clearances expire and have to be renewed — a check from three years ago is not evidence about today.
Reporting is always one tap away
The Report button is on every page. It cannot be turned off, it works without signing in, and it works without giving your name. A trained person reviews every report.
What we do about serious reports
Reports about a child's safety are treated as the most serious thing we handle. They are prioritised above everything else, kept for as long as any investigation may need them, and where the law requires us to report a matter to the authorities, we do.
No ranking, no public shaming
We do not publish leaderboards or rank students against each other, and a child's mistakes are never shown to anyone else. Getting something wrong is information for the next lesson, not a score.
